CONDITION AND VALUATION SURVEYS:

Condition & Valuation Surveys (C&V) for purchase (for commercial vessels only) and for insurance purposes for pleasure craft and yachts. A C&V Survey covers all aspects of the vessel’s condition except for internal workings of machinery and other listed exceptions (such as for the underwater hull if performed in the water or for masts and above deck rigging on sailboats). Includes estimates of the vessel’s Current Market Value and Replacement Value.

DAMAGE SURVEYS:

Usually conducted on behalf of the vessel Underwriters but can also be for any interested party. Assignments generally include the determination of the nature of the loss, cause of the loss and the extent of the damage. Damage surveys can be conducted on any type of vessel, docks and marine structures and cargo.

ON-HIRE / OFF-HIRE SURVEYS:

Inspections conducted prior to going on charter (On-Hire) and when coming off charter (Off-Hire). Includes a detailed description of the vessel and a detailed account of the condition at the time of survey. For exterior surveys only digital video can be used to record the condition before and after charter. Digital videos are edited and transferred to DVD format for ease of viewing and storage.

SUITABILITY FOR VOYAGE AND SUITABILITY FOR TOW SURVEYS:

Inspections to determine the suitability for a vessel to make a certain voyage generally on behalf of the vessel Underwriters in order to evaluate the risk. All aspects of the vessel’s condition are considered, including physical condition, manning and crewing, provisioning with required navigation equipment and publications, fuel and lube sufficient for the intended voyage, spare parts and food/water. Specific recommendations are made in writing to the vessel’s Master regarding the route, weather limitations and correction of any deficiencies found.

Suitability For Tow Surveys include all of the above items and include an assessment of both the towing vessel and the vessel to be towed.
