About Us
Dana R. Teicheira is a Marine Surveyor certified by the
National Association Of Marine Surveyors (NAMS), the most
prominent surveyor’s association in America. Mr. Teicheira
was tested and is certificated in the Hull & Machinery,
Cargo and Yacht & Small Craft categories (one of only 13
surveyors out of 380 nationwide to do so). Additionally, Mr.
Teicheira is a Certified Marine Investigator through the
International Association of Marine Investigators (IAMI) and
is a Certified Auditor for the American Waterways Operators
(AWO), doing Management Safety Systems audits for tug and
barge companies nationwide.
Mr. Teicheira’s career in the Maritime Industry began
after graduation from the California Maritime Academy in
1980, as a Third Mate on any size vessel on any waters. Mr.
Teicheira’s sea going experience was gained on a variety of
commercial vessels, including break-bulk cargo ships,
tugboats, fishing vessels, and survey/research vessels. Mr.
Teicheira has served as Third Mate, Mate and Master during
his seagoing career. Mr. Teicheira then served as
Vice-President of Marine Operations for a San Francisco Bay
Area tugboat company, gaining extensive expertise in vessel
maintenance, dry-docking, machinery/systems overhaul and
repair as well as crew/personnel matters and management.
In 1991 Mr. Teicheira began his Marine Surveying career
working for a large firm, gaining expertise in all facets of
marine surveying with an emphasis on Condition and Valuation
Surveys, Damage Surveys on yachts and small commercial craft
(tug and barge, fish boats, passenger for hire, dredges,
etc.), Hull and Machinery Damage Surveys, and Cargo Damage
Surveys. Mr. Teicheira also has extensive experience
conducting investigations on marine related casualties such
as collisions/allisions, fire, and crew/passenger injuries.
As well as being a full member of the National
Association of marine surveyors, Mr. Teicheira is a member
of American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) and the
International Association of Marine Investigators (IAMI).
Mr. Teicheira holds a current United States Coast Guard
MASTER Ocean Steam Or Motor Vessels Of Not More Than 1600
Gross Tons, and THIRD MATE Ocean Steam Or Motor Vessels Of
Any Gross Tons with a towing endorsement. |
